A PANTOMIME, performed in tribute to a Barry woman who died last year, has raised more than £2,000 for charity.
Princeless, an original panto based on the stories of Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, was performed by staff from the Port Road Tesco store at Barry Comprehensive School on Sunday (January 22).
The show was created in memory of their colleague Sylvia Adams, who died of cancer last year, and all the money raised will be split between Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Alzheimers Society.
David Cross, who has worked at the Tesco store for eight years, wrote, directed and performed in the show.
"It went brilliantly," he said.
"We had support from Sylvia’s husband, members of her family and people that knew her, as well as from Tesco and the local community.
"One of her daughters said to me afterwards 'she would have loved the performance'."
Sylvia, who was in her late 50s, had previously organised Cinderella and Snow White panto shows for fellow staff.
As a tribute to her, the Tesco employees performed both a matinee and an evening show.
"The evening show was a bit emotional," said David "It was a great experience though, and we had about 500 people come to see it. The feedback has been brilliant."
David, who played Prince Charming, added: "Sylvia was a big character and put a lot of smiles on people’s faces.
"It was great working with her. She made it an enjoyable place to work."
