Jail and life ban for Barry teenage driver

12:10pm Friday 3rd February 2012

A BARRY teenager has been banned from driving for life and jailed for 10 weeks, after he admitted driving while disqualified.

Marcus James Thomas, aged 19, of Gateholm Close, Barry, appeared at Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Magistrates Court on January 23.

He admitted the offence, which took place on Lavernock Road, Penarth, on November 2, 2011.

He also admitted driving a Vauxhall Astra without insurance and failing to stop for a police officer.

Magistrates said the offence was so serious because of his previous convictions, and because it took place shortly after his previous disqualification.
